She founded and ran a nonprofit organization funded by Youth venture based in Lawrence whose mission is to support the altruistic ideas of youth in America. Over the period of 3 years this organization built 5 homes in Zimbabwe, sent solar cookers to 2 energy starved villages in the Tibetan prefecture of China and fully funded a medical clinic in La Gonave, Haiti. She has volunteered to be a medical needs analyst for Mama Makekas House of hope in Africa, the Methodist Church in Haiti and the Schumacker Foundation in India. She is also the founder and co chair of The new Tradition coalition which provides education and support to parents with the goal of reducing underage drinking and drug use in Lawrence, KS. She was the founding board member of the Women�s coalition, an umbrella group of non profits working with issues relating to women and children in Kansas and Missouri.She brings a deep respect for every culture she has worked with and hard earned practical knowledge of what works, what doesn�t and why. She has successfully communicated across cultural divides and language barriers to help form alliances and resolve conflict. Since she has worked both with projects that have done well and others that have failed she is sensitized to early warning signs and can suggest what to do about it. She has the ability to motivate both adults and youth, work in a variety of settings, think on her feet, improvise and analyze complicated scenarios and suggest creative ways to overcome obstacles.
Mirambeau, a native Floridian, but current resident of
Georgia, received her bachelor's degree in Health Science from Florida Agricultural and
MechanicalUniversity and then completed her graduate studies in public health with a concentration in epidemiology.Ms. Mirambeau�s research experience has primarily focused on the public health issues of the Haitian community, which is evidenced by her involvement with epidemiological inquiries on the issue of tuberculosis among Haitians.
Her predominant profession has been in the area of community health education and health promotion, where she has gained extensive experience in program planning and design; implementation; evaluation; and capacity building.In Ms. Mirambeau�s current role as a Program Evaluator with the Georgia Division of Public Health, she has facilitated several large-scale efforts that deal with the evaluation, data collection, and management of chronic disease prevention and health promotion projects.
Many would characterize Ms. Mirambeau as dedicated, determined and compassionate towards the needs of the underserved.However, Ms. Mirambeau�s goals and ambitions are credited to her observations of her mother, a Haitian immigrant, who rose from the humble beginnings as a migrant farmworker to a successful entrepreneur, and consistently endeavored to model hard work, resiliency, and servitude towards others.
